The AvaSpec-2048x14 Fibre Optic Spectrometer is a back-type CCD spectrometer with high quantum efficiency and high UV sensitivity. The optical design is based on the AvaBench-75 symmetrical Czerny-Turner design with a 2048x14 pixel high UV sensitive CCD image sensor. The image sensor is used as a linear array of 2048 pixels binning the vertical 14 pixels to optimise efficiency. The spectrometer has a fibre optic entrance connector (as standard SMA - other types are possible), collimating and focusing mirror and diffractional grating. A choice of 15 different gratings with different dispersion and blaze angles enable applications in the 200-1100nm range. The AvaSpec-2048x14 is delivered with a high speed USB2 interface and 16bit A/D converter.

The AvaSpec-2048x14 is especially suitable for measuring low light, fluorescence and UV- applications. Digital IO ports enable external triggering and control of a shutter and pulsed light sources from the Avantes line of instruments.

The AvaSpec-2048x14 is supplied as standard with AvaSoft-BASIC, a complete manual, USB interface cable and will run on USB power (-SPU option). However, a PS-12V/1.0A power supply can be ordered separately for mains power use if this is preferred. In this case, the user will then have both options available. AvaSoft-FULL and application specific software can be ordered separately from the AvaSoft software library.

The AvaSpec-2048x14 has a USB2 interface with ultrafast datasampling of 200 spectra per second, data transfer in 5msec and supports analog inputs and outputs.

Optional Bluetooth® (-BT) communication and an SDRAM card for on-board saving of spectra can be added.

For USB2 platform devices, multiple (up to 127) spectrometers with different detector types can be externally coupled (for further information, please view the section 'Multichannel Spectrometers').
