Transmission Immersion Probe with Variable Pathlength
The transmission dip probe with variable path length can be used to obtain online and inline absorbance measurements in fluids.
The 1/2” Probe has an optical path length which can be set by the user in a range from 0.5mm - 20mm and is therefore extremely versatile for high or low absorption fluids. The probe end is simply dipped into the fluid to make the measurement.
Via a standard SMA905 connector, light is coupled into a fibre bundle consisting of 6 fibres and carried to the probe end, where it crosses a user-defined physical gap of 0.25 - 10mm and reflects against a diffuse white material. The back reflected light returns into a 7th fibre. This fibre transfers the data to the output SMA905 connector which can be coupled to a spectrometer or spectral analyser. At the probe end, the read fibre is placed in the middle of the lighting fibres for best efficiency of the probe. Both bundles are led through one piece of flexible stainless steel tubing. In a ferrule, they are split and run separately for 1m to reach the SMA905 connectors.
