Sometimes a single channel spectrometer is not enough, for example when you want higher resolution over a wider range, or maybe when you need to constantly monitor to reference signal at the same time as the measurement.

 

In either of these cases and a great many more, a dual channel spectrometer is ideal. Each spectrometer can be configured independently, and its also possible to have different detector types in each channel.
