TE Cooled, General Purpose Fibre Optic Spectrometer
In general, the use of long integration times often equates to an increasing dark noise level which can limit the dynamic range, and/or in the case of very low signal levels, be stronger than the signal itself.
The Avantes range of thermoelectric cooled (TEC) spectrometers system overcome this problem by cooling the detector. These recently redesigned instruments are now equipped with triple stage cooling, keeping the detector at an optimal 5 degrees Celsius (maximum -35°C difference from ambient temperature).
The detector cooling provides a significantly lower and more stable dark baseline and PRNU level. Dark noise is reduced by a factor of 2-3. This allows the AvaSpec-ULS2048L-TEC to be used in very low light conditions, such as fluorescence and Raman measurements. If needed, integration times of more than 5 seconds are possible.
The AvaSpec-ULS2048LTEC has an integrated temperature regulator, USB2.0 high-speed interface and two cooling fans to actively ventilate the heat sink of the Peltier cooling elements, with all required power supplies integrated into the housing. The Replaceable Slit option to make the spectrometer even moer versatile is also now also available for this spectrometer!
